Important Events!

BSMS has a new Principal!  Mrs. Robin Kirby will be our new principal starting in July.  Congratulations!

1.    Summer Reading List for BSMS and High School Summer Requirements
2.  Football - Voluntary Football conditioning will start on May 30thfrom 6pm to 8pm. Conditioning will be 3 days a week (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday) until June 25th . Incoming 6th graders are welcome to come. For up-to-date information please join our “Team App”. You can download this on any smart phone or computer. Just download “Team App” on your device, then search for Bryan Station Middle Football.  It will ask you to join and it will send me (Mr. Butler) a notification and I’ll accept. Anytime I update the App, you will get a notification.
3.  Supply Lists 2017-2018
4.   Destination Middle School will be August 12th. Registration will begin at 8:30am.  This is for incoming 6th Grade parents and students to learn more about middle school life.
5.  Defender 101 - For our 17-18 Freshmen, we hope that you will join us for our 10 day summer program to bridge the gap between middle school and high school!  This will take place from July 10th thru July 21st, from 8:45 am to 12:30 pm at BSHS.

6.  Mr. Davis will have three camps this summer here at the school to enhance student’s learning and understanding of middle school culture.
  • Developing Achievement Camp- 6th/7th graders June 12th -June 30th- for current 6th and 7th grade students
  • Night School program May15th - June 22nd from 6pm until 8pm

BSMS in the News

*  Congratulations to our State Track and Field Champions!  Our girls came in 1st place in the 4x100, 4th place in the 4x200, 4th place in the 4x400.  Our boys came in 2nd place in the 4x100 and 4th place in the 4x200.  Congratulations to Dekel Crowdus for placing 2nd in the 200.

 

*  Congratulations to our new SBDM members!!  They are Meredith Nathaniel, Hope Smiley, Maria Labreveux and Debora Tichenor.  Thank you all for supporting BSMS!

 

*  Congratulations to Zoe Brewer for earning the highest overall score for USA Gymnastics Level 6 on bars and in the all-around in KY!

*  Congratulating Mr. Thomas Reed who was named NAGT’s Kentucky Outstanding Earth Science of 2017!!!  Way to go Mr. Reed!

*  Congratulations BSMS Boys Track team won City Championships!  BSMS Girls Team won place 3rd Place! In addition we had 80 student-athletes on the team with an average 3.1 GPA. Our 1st place finishers were: Dekel Crowdus 200 & 400 & also won Athlete of the Year; Max Mill 1600 and 3200; Tiana Gray Disc; Malia McCall, Asha Gill, TaShawna Jackson, Kamryn Jackson in 4x400!


*  Congratulations to Our State Reflection Winners!  - Elke Coenders won the Award for Excellence State in Photography.  Andrew Peng won the Award for Excellence in Visual Art.  Way to go Bearcats!!

 

*  Congratulations to our Battle of the Books team on a successful year!  They placed 3rd place in the district this year.  Arden Ensor was captain with Zach Henz, Grace Brown, Erin Kendall, Hannah Campbell, and Avery Padgett.

 

*  Congratulations to Sr. Castillo for being selected and awarded Teachers Who Made A Difference.  Sr. Castillo was recognized last Saturday at EKU and was nominated by Anna Seebold.

 

*  At the Kentucky World Language Association’s latest showcase, Bryan Station Middle’s Victoria Lowe was the overall runner-up while Esmeralda Alvarez placed second in the heritage speaker category. Awesome work!!

*  Congratulations to Elke Coenders!!!  She won 2nd place at the Kentucky State Science Fair.  She also received the Broadcom Master certificate and will advance to the National Science Fair competition.

*  Congratulations to Ms. Jackson for being named Coach of the Year!  She coaches our Dance Team and does a great job!

*  Congratulations to Kyle Lewis!  Kyle won 1st place in Regional Science Fair in the category of Animal Science.  He also received a Broadcom MASTERS award and will be competing in the national competition as well.  Awesome Job Kyle!!

*  Congratulations to Elke Coenders!  She won 3rd place in Regional Science Fair in the category of Behavioral & Social Science.  She also received the Dunbar Girls in STEM Equality Award.  Way to go Elke!

*  Congratulations to the orchestra!  At the 2017 KMEA District 7 Honors Orchestra, BSMS hosted over 200 students from Fayette, Clark and Woodford County including private and home school students.  BSMS had the second most number of students accepted into the ensemble!   The following students were accepted:

*  Congrutulations to the Jazz Band!  They had a terrific performance for the BSHS jazz band dance.  It’s not easy for a middle school band to perform for 45 minutes straight, but these kids performed like pros.

*  Congratulations to our district science fair winners!


Kyle Lewis won 1st place in Animal Science.

Elke Coenders won 2nd place in Behavioral & Social.
James William Grant won 2nd place in Chemistry.
Eliza Mullins won 1st place in Engineering.
Elko Kuvliev won 2nd place in Microbiology.

*  Congratulations to our Dance Team!  They won 1st place in their dance team competition at Eastern Kentucky University!  We are proud of you all!

*  Congratulations to our Band Program!   We had 17 students get accepted into the Fayette County Honors Band and 3 student alternates! These students are: Landon Hodge, Wesley Doyle, Noah Shofner, Frances Kilgore, Zachariah Oliver, Jack Hollingshead, Evelyn Real, Colin Neal, Lance Young, Micaela Niebuhr, Erin Kendall, Rebekah Dutton, Jonathan Hicks, Colin Ferguson (First chair for the 2nd year in a row!), Phenex Schwarz-Ward, Sebastian Astolfo, & Zachary Henz!  Way to go Bercats!

*  Congratulations to the 15 students who won our school science fair and will continue to the district level!  We are proud of your hard work!  They are Elko Kuvliev, Evan Covert, Rick O'Neil, Kyle Lewis, Andrew Lewis, Elke Coenders, Rebekah Dutton, Anna Seabold, Jacob Jordan, Landon Hodge, Kendall Smith, James William Grant, Acacia Smallwood, Eliza Mullins, & Elena Verdecchia!

*  Congratulations to our Dance and Cheerleading Teams!  They won the spirit award at their competition!  Way to go!

*  Congratulations to our Reflections winners Elke Coenders and Andrew Peng!  Elke received the Award of Excellence in Visual Arts & Photography.  She also won the Award of Merit in Literature.  Andrew was the overall winner in Visual Arts. Andrew will advance to the state for Visual Art and Elke will advance to the state for Photography.  Awesome Job!!!!

*  Congratulations to our football team for a great season!!!!!!  They had an undefeated season!

*  Station Rain Garden Unites Campus - The high school and middle school combine forces to open our outdoor classroom.

*  Congratulations to several of our Alpha League students!  They went to Washington DC to visit the White House, museums, and Howard University.

 

* Congratulations to Mr. Doak for being named in the FCPS Staff Spotlight!

*  Congratulations to Mr. Bordas for being named in the FCPS Staff Spotlight!

*  Congratulations to our Volleyball team!  They won a bronze medal at the Bluegrass State Games.  Way to go Bearcats!


*  Congratulations to our track team at the state meet!!!  BSMS Girls came in 3rd place at State Championships and Won City Championships.  The boys came in 4th place at State Championships and 3rd Place at City Championships. No other school had both goys and girls teams place so high at state or city.

*  The Herald Leader recognized BSMS 7th graders who tested and qualified for state accolades in the Duke Talent Identification Program.  Congratulations to Grace Brown, Sarah Jones, Benjamin Shapere, Acacia Smallwood and Elena Verdecchia!  Click here for the full list of district qualifiers! *  Deafness no obstacle for dance team at Bryan Station Middle - Way to go Bailey Locker!!!

*  Mr. Diaz and Ms. Isaacs went to Washington DC to receive an award for BSMS from Congress for being a Green Ribbon School.  Click here for the full document of the award ceremony.
